Hi, I'm Sylvia! I was born and raised here in the Pacific Northwest and love being outside. I received my Bachelor of Science in Health Studies with an emphasis in School Health Education, Summa Cum Laude, from Portland State University. I also received my Master of Education from Portland State University and am endorsed to teach Health and Special Education. I coach XC and am the co-head Track & Field coach here at Wilson. In my free time I love cooking, bullet journaling, and hanging out with my "dogter", Libby.

My Teaching Philosophy:
I believe in creating a safe and healthy class environment in which all students feel valued and may learn to their fullest potential.
I meet the academic needs of all students in my classroom by cultivating the principles of both general and special education. I use specialized, evidence-based practices to develop differentiated instruction and curriculum modifications.
I practice using the Universal Design for Learning (UDL) model, which emphasizes multiple means of representation, expression, and engagement throughout class instruction and assignments when designing my curriculum to ensure all individuals have equal and meaningful opportunities to learn.
